To sell real estate a person must hold a current Certificate of Approval. To get the certificate they must complete the salesperson’s course or a recognised degree in property sales.The salesperson’s course is part one of the four-part National Certificate in Real Estate. The salesperson’s course covers the structure of the real estate industry, real estate law, listing properties for sale, marketing properties, setting price ranges and qualifying buyers.After completing the course the student can apply, with their future employer, to the Real Estate Agents Licensing Board for a salesperson’s certificate. Once that is issued the student may begin working in real estate in a sales or property management role.They can continue their studies by completing the National Certificate in Real Estate.The certificate course develops skills and knowledge in one or more sectors of real estate, including residential sales, residential property management, rural sales, commercial/industrial sales, commercial/industrial property management and business broking.Branch managers work for a licensed real estate agent, and manage a team of real estate salespeople.To work as a branch manager there are criteria to be met.The qualification requirements are the National Certificate in Real Estate and four courses of the National Diploma in Real Estate, or the first five papers of the Diploma in Business Studies (Real Estate).The time experience requirements for branch manager status are three years out of the past five in real estate.To work as a licensee or real estate agent you need the National Diploma in Real Estate or six papers of the Diploma in Business Studies (Real Estate) from
Three years experience out of the past five in real estate are also required.The National Diploma in Real Estate prepares someone to own and manage their own real estate business.It is also the qualification requirement for associate membership of the Real Estate Institute.
